“The images presented here grew out of a long held interest in the notion of collective memory and storytelling. Stories have always been the way a culture transmits its values and attitudes to future generations. Over time, these stories become deeply ingrained, achieving the status of archetypes. In this work I have been interested in the stories of the Old Testament and have re-imagined several key figures from this text. I hope you enjoy this work.”
* A note on process: all images were produced in my studio. The images of females were the result of covering the models in an emulsion and a combination of wood ash and dry pigments. Controlled lighting allows for the textures and colors to be manipulated during capture.
